Resealable Drinks for Office Vending: Check the Pack and the Occasion

Spread the love

A resealable drink may appeal to office users who move between meetings or prefer to finish a drink over more than one break. That is a specific purchase occasion worth discussing with the operator. It does not mean every can should be replaced with a bottle or that a larger pack automatically offers better value. Start with what customers need to do after they collect the drink.

Ask about the occasion

Find out whether the request comes from people returning to a desk, moving to another room or leaving the building. Ask which drinks and pack sizes they have in mind. A request for water with a cap is different from a request for a larger soft drink. Record the specific need so the operator can assess suitable options without assuming the whole drinks range needs to change.

Keep site rules in view. If drinks are restricted in certain rooms or work areas, a resealable container does not automatically remove that restriction. Ask the workplace contact to explain the relevant rules through its usual channel. The vending range should support a practical customer journey without implying permission to carry a drink into an area where the site does not allow it.

Confirm the exact pack with the operator

Provide a current sample or precise product reference for the proposed bottle. Ask the operator to check its suitability for the intended machine configuration. Bottle shape, size and closure are part of the actual pack, so do not approve a substitute solely because the stated liquid volume is the same. The responsible provider should confirm the appropriate loading and dispensing arrangement.

Where a demonstration is agreed, follow the bottle through selection, payment and collection. Check whether the customer can remove it comfortably using the normal process. Do not change shelves or dispensing settings yourself to make a sample fit. A useful test establishes how the specific pack behaves in the proposed setup and records any conditions the operator identifies before it is added to the range.

Make the choice clear before purchase

Use accurate product names and pack sizes in any separate range information. Do not rely only on a photograph that may resemble another flavour or bottle size. The FSAI’s food-labelling guidance outlines the information associated with prepacked foods. Customers should use the actual pack information for ingredients and other product details, rather than assumptions based on the container format.

Avoid describing a bottle as leakproof, suitable for every bag or safe to keep for a particular period after opening unless the product information supports the claim. Follow the manufacturer’s storage and use instructions. Resealability is a packaging feature, not a general guarantee about handling. Keep promotional wording modest and connected to what the supplier can verify for the product being sold.

Review the trial against the original need

Ask whether customers found the bottle convenient for the occasion they described and whether they would buy that pack again at its displayed price. Compare the response with actual availability and sales information. If the option sold poorly, check whether people could identify it and whether the requested product was stocked consistently before concluding that resealable drinks are unwanted.

Consider the effect on the rest of the range. A bottle may serve a different need from a can, so the useful decision may be keeping both in proportion to observed demand. Do not turn a packaging request into an unsupported health or environmental claim. Record the practical outcome and review it when the office pattern or supplier pack changes.
