Comparing Vending Sales: Use the Same Opening Hours

Spread the love

A week with lower vending sales is not necessarily a week with weaker demand. The machine may have been accessible for fewer hours. Before changing the product range, compare the trading opportunity as well as the sales total.

Write down actual access hours

Record when the intended customers could reach and use the machine during each comparison period. Include a closed floor, a public holiday, a late opening or a service interruption. Separate advertised building hours from access to the specific vending area. Keep the explanation alongside the sales report so the reason for a short week remains visible later.

Choose an honest denominator

You can calculate sales per accessible day or hour, provided you define it consistently. For a hypothetical example, 120 sales across four open days equals 30 per open day; 140 across seven equals 20. That arithmetic describes the chosen periods, not a guaranteed forecast. Avoid comparing a five-day office with a continuously accessible site using calendar totals alone.

Check other limits on sales

An accessible machine can still have empty selections or unavailable payments. Note these separately rather than assuming every open hour offered the same service. Nayax describes product maps and inventory records as foundations for accurate reporting; your operator can confirm what data is available in your setup. A missing sale during an outage is not direct evidence of a disliked product.

Use the result to choose the next test

Compare similar weekdays and, where possible, similar occupancy conditions. Decide whether the next action concerns stock quantity, access or the product itself. Keep the original totals as well as the adjusted calculation. This makes the reasoning easier to review and prevents a useful adjustment from turning into a misleading claim that all sites perform equally after one simple division.
